Breakfast Club - The Mussel Shoal

The Mussel Shoal - Georgies Corner

So if you’re reading this from the UK, you’ll know that June has pretty much been winter for us (with the odd unpredictable sunny day). This makes eating out less tempting, and hibernating with Netflix a much more appealing option, but when a new restaurant has opened overlooking the sea and it serves pancakes, sometimes you just have to brave the cold.

The menu is a breakfast dream, not overloaded with options but something for everyone (which is perfect for me - SO indecisive). We went for the Banana and Chocolate pancakes, with a big old cafetière of coffee. Fortunately it was relatively quiet so we got the pick of wherever we wanted to sit, but I imagine on a glorious day it's pretty busy so something to bare in mind.

An added bonus that they supply blankets - which was needed as I left my coat in the car, forever the optimist that the sun will come out. The view even on a gloomy day is just beautiful - overlooking Porthleven harbour.

I cannot express to you how delicious these pancakes are - I mean look at them! They were absolutely unreal, and SO filling - we didn’t even bother with lunch as these kept us full all day.

The restaurant is also open in the evening serving an array of seafood (there are veggie options) which I will be definitely coming back to try when it’s a bit warmer. A big thumbs up for The Mussel Shoal from me and Fred, a morning well spent at a beautiful spot in Porthleven. You can view The Mussel Shoal’ instagram here, which makes me hungry just scrolling through it.
