June Beauty
So June has been the month of purchasing a couple of beauty bits that I need (and some that I didn’t - like I said in my Minimal Living post, sometimes I break my own rules). After running out of my second cleanser (I always use two, one to remove makeup/spf and one to actually clean my skin), I decided to try something from a brand I’ve never tried before; Glossier. I ordered the Milky Jelly Cleanser after trawling through reviews and youtube videos and it sounded perfect, I like to keep things simple but also, It’s going on my face so I want to make sure I’m picking something good!
This month, Jaclyn Hill (who needs no introduction) released a huge range of nude lipsticks, and after following her for years and trusting her in the beauty industry, I decided to order two. More on these later!
Starting with the Glossier cleanser, after using it morning and night for the past 5/6 days, I have to say I am impressed. It works perfectly as a second cleanse or in the morning, no irritation and leaves your skin just the perfect amount of clean yet not stripped back (foaming cleanser I'm looking at you). It has made want to try more Glossier products and I am mildly annoyed at myself that I didn't believe the hype sooner. If you want to have a little look at Glossier (I’ve also got my eye on Boy Brow) then you can have a look here.
Now onto the lipsticks, and before I begin I just want to say I am fully aware of the controversy with them, more on that later.
So after watching Jaclyns swatch video for her latest launch, I decided to go for the shades Amazeballs and Nude AF, as I am a nude lip girl and I normally mix one or two lipsticks to make the perfect shade. As these were shipped from the US, the shipping charge was $20, but I received no surprise customs charge and they arrived within a week of ordering.
So here they are in all their glory, two perfect shades to create the perfect nude lip (in my opinion). I literally put them on as soon as I took this photo, and my first impression was they feel like a lip balm, so comfortable and very similar to the MAC Cremesheen formula. I wore them throughout the evening and of course, as a more creamy lipstick, they faded. However, they faded in such a natural way, and my lips felt like I’d had a lip treatment on. I decided to give them a full test at our friends wedding, which was a gloriously sunny day with all the food and Pimms.
Of course I haven’t got any photos close up, just me and champagne with a wet wipe on my knee. But anyway, I have to say they lasted so beautifully. I did one top up, and the same as before, they faded so nicely and topped up perfectly. I am normally a matte lip girl, but I can honestly say these have become my go to for the past week that I’ve had them.
Now comes to the tricky part, which isn’t something I am going into massive detail as it isn’t my personal experience. There have been a LOT of issues with these lipsticks, customers finding fibres and lumps in their lipstick amongst other things which is obviously not okay. Due to these issues, I have myself emailed Jaclyn Hill cosmetics to confirm the safety of the lipsticks, just to be 100% sure, as there has been no confirmation on what is causing the weird issues and fibres in the lipsticks.
I will update you on the information I receive from Jaclyn Hill cosmetics. Once the issues have been resolved and I have some form of confirmation they are okay, I would be happy to recommend these lipsticks as they are beautiful and the shade range is also impressive.
